Lyte, as her stage name suggests, was born in Brooklyn, New York, on October 11, 1970. She grew up in Brooklyn’s East Flatbush neighborhood. Lyte began rapping when he was 12 years old. Lana went to school in Brooklyn, but she never paid attention in class. She graduated from high school in some way. Mike D and Dj Giz, his brother, and best mates, were her childhood friends.

Mc struggled a lot with composition and music at first, and it took her almost two years to record her debut tune. There was no going back for her rapping career after that. Lyte published her debut single “I Cramp To Understand U” in 1987 when she was 16 years old, and it was one of the first songs written about the crack period.
