Shamita Shetty is a Bollywood actress, model, and interior designer from India. She made her Hindi cinema debut in the multi-starrer blockbuster musical romance film Mohabbatein (2000), where she rose to popularity and won the IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year – Female. She went on to star in films such as Bewafaa (2005) and Cash (2007).

Following that, she appeared in a number of reality television series, including Bigg Boss 3 (2009) and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa (2015). Later, she appeared in the stunt show Khatron Ke Khiladi 9 (2019), as well as the game reality shows Bigg Boss OTT (2021) and Bigg Boss 15 (2021–2022).

Shetty was born in Mangalore into a Tulu-speaking family. Her late father Surendra and mother Sunanda worked in the pharmaceutical sector as producers of tamper-proof water caps. She attended St. Anthony’s Girls’ High School in Mumbai. Shetty earned a fashion designing certificate from SNDT College in Mumbai after graduating from Sydenham College with a degree in commerce.

Following that, she began her internship with fashion designer Manish Malhotra, but Manish recognised a spark in her and urged that she prepare for her acting career. Shetty made the decision to pursue her love for interior design in 2011. Her first solo initiative was Royalty, a Mumbai-based club. Later, her passion for interior design made her to pursue a certificate from London’s Central Saint Martins and Inchbald School of Design.
