In his teens, Rohit began competing in javelin throw events. In 2014, he earned a gold medal in his first district-level javelin throw tournament. He won the gold medal with a throw of 49 meters. In July 2016, he earned another gold medal at the World School Games. In the competition, he threw 72.57 meters. He was posted to Diesel Locomotive Works, Varanasi, on September 10, 2020.

He won gold in the National Federation Cup (April 2022) in Thenhipalam with a throw of 81.83m.
