Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid bin Sultan Al-Qasimi is an Emirati politician and a member of the Sharjah Royal Family in the United Arab Emirates. Sheikha Lubna Al-Qasimi was born on February 4, 1962, in Dubai. From 1965 until 1972, her father, Khalid bin Sultan Al-Qasimi, ruled the Sharjah Emirate of the United Arab Emirates. Her uncle is Sharjah’s Emir, Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi.
Lubna graduated from Al-Zahra Secondary School in Sharjah and was rated ninth among UAE graduates in the same level. She moved to the United States to study computer science at California State University. She returned to Sharjah after graduation to pursue an executive MBA at the American University of Sharjah. Lubna Khalid Al Qasimi Career Highlights
Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid bin Sultan al Qasimi returned to the UAE in 1981 and began her work as an IT programmer for Datamation, a software business. She later worked as the senior manager of the Information Systems department of the Dubai Ports Authority (DPA). She was able to separate herself from other employees and won the ‘Distinguished Government Employee Award’ in 1999 while working in this position for seven years. Sheikh Mohammed Al Maktoum, ruler of Dubai and prime minister of the UAE, was prompted to select her as the Chief Executive of Tejari, the first Middle Eastern Business-to-Business Marketplace, in 2000, while her work-life shown promise and success. With her IT experience, she was able to create a system that minimizes cargo turnaround times at Dubai International Airport.
