Kandi Lenice Burruss-Tucker, better known as Kandi Burruss, is an American producer, television personality, singer-songwriter, and businesswoman who rose to prominence as a member of the female vocal group Xscape in 1992. In 2000, her song “No Scrubs” received the Grammy Award for Best R&B Song. Kandi has been a cast member on the reality show The Real Housewives of Atlanta since its second season.
She was a guest on Kim Zolciak-wedding Biermann’s special “Don’t Be Tardy” for the Wedding in 2012. She also portrayed Roselyn Perry in the third season of The Chi, a drama series. She won the third season of the Fox competition series The Masked Singer and came in fifth place on Celebrity Big Brother’s second season.

Kandi Burruss was born on May 17, 1976, in East Point, Georgia, a suburban area southwest of Atlanta. She grew up in Georgia with her friends and family, and she attended Tri-Cities High School. She had an older brother who died in a vehicle accident.
Kandi initially appeared on the American talk program Teen Show when she was 15 years old. Kandi’s father’s name is Reverend Titus Burruss Jr., and her mother’s name is Joyce Jones. She also had a brother, Patrick Riley, who passed away in 1991.

Career Highlights

During her high school years, Kandi and her colleagues founded the band Xscape, and they eventually had their significant debut performance at Teen Summit in 1992. The girls were introduced to Ian Burke, a record executive who eventually became their group’s manager. Xscape quickly rose to prominence, attracting the notice of American producer Jermaine Dupri, who eventually signed the group to his production company “So So Def Recordings.”
The band Xscape split in 2007 owing to severe disagreements among the band members, who leveled accusations against one another, and they all parted ways. Kandi soon shifted her concentration to producing and songwriting. In 1999, she co-wrote three massive hit songs with Kevin Briggs, “No Scrubs,” “Bills, Bills,” and “There You Go“.

Kandi made her television series debut as a replacement for DeShawn Snow in the second season of Real Housewives of Atlanta.
