Dewald Brevis is a South African cricketer who was born on April 29, 2003. In South Africa, Dewald Brevis is nicknamed as ‘Baby AB’ because his batting posture and timing are strikingly similar to that of Abraham Benjamin de Villiers. This was allegedly exposed for the first time last week when he got a half-century against India, following which the South African players were spotted holding a poster that said ‘BABY AB!’.

He was signed by Northerns in April 2021, ahead of the South African domestic cricket season 2021–22. On 8 October 2021, he made his Twenty20 debut for the South Africa Under-19s in the 2021–22 CSA Provincial T20 Knock-Out tournaments. He was picked to South Africa’s selection for the 2022 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in the West Indies in November 2021.

Dewald Brevis Career Highlights

On October 8, the ‘Baby AB’ made his T20 debut for South Africa Under-19s against Easterns in the 2021/22 CSA Provincial T20 Cup. He scored 46 from 25 balls that day, including two fours and four sixes.

Later the same month, on December 26, he played his debut Under-19 One-Day International (ODI) against the West Indies Under-19s. He scored 14 runs off 25 balls and took three important wickets in the game.
