Early Life

Amit Khatri was born on December 25, 2003, in the Haryana district of Rohtak. Suresh Khatri, his father, is a retired BSF constable. Suresh Khatri would return home for holiday, but instead of resting, he would resume his daily regiment tasks with the BSF. He would sit back and watch his son do nothing.

Amit’s road to achievement was highly problematic. He was not physically powerful and had low stamina. Many top coaches rejected him. Chandan Singh, an international race walker, took Khatri under his wing in 2018, and over time, he displayed development before generating quick results.

Career and Achievements

Amit began to develop his physical strength and stamina after beginning training with Chandan Singh. He had low hemoglobin, making it difficult for him to continue after a while. He began exercising in Ooty to increase his stamina.

In 2021, he won the gold medal at the Indian U-18 Championship with a time of 42:15.91. He then made history by becoming India’s first medalist in the World Athletics U20 Championships in Nairobi. He took silver with a timing of 42:17.94, finishing only seven seconds behind the winner.

This is no small accomplishment for young Amit, who is now unquestionably one of India’s finest athletes. He will compete in the 10,000-meter race walk for India at the prestigious Commonwealth Games later this year.
